Disabled People have a Christmas to remember

The annual Mr and Miss Disability Kenya took place at the Cool Breeze Hotel, Nairobi on Friday.

The beauty pageant appreciates those living with different forms of disabilities, with finalists contesting in various categories.

In the Wheel Chair category, Josphat Mwema won the men’s slot while Esther Nyakiuru won the female title.

Mr and Miss Junior were Brandon Chege and Maureen Auma respectively.

In the Albinism category, Alan Herbert and Mercy Kendi carried the day.

“We want to encourage those with disability in our society to know that they are equally beautiful and talented. We will endeavor to give them hope and strength to soldier on and learn to be self-reliant,” said Jacinta Bacha, the CEO Bacha Disabled Association, the organisation behind the event.

The judges included the renowned fashion guru Geoffrey Wilson and Grace Maina.
