AFC Leopards Coach Marko Demands More From the Den

AFC Leopards coach Marko Vasiljevic saw his side score their first goal from open play this season when Ingwe took on Sofapaka on Saturday 22nd, and despite finding the back of the net twice in the clash- the Serb wants more chances created.

Following their colossal fall at the hands of Kakamega Homeboyz a week prior, the Sofa tie saw a rejig of the starting unit as youngsters Jeffary Odeny and Marvin Nabwire earned a start. Nabwire would provide the first goal within five minutes of play.

Three more goals were scored in the clash with Michael Oduor cancelling out Nabwire’s opener, Aziz Okaka sending Leopards into the lead once more and Cornelius Lusaka ensuring a share of the spoils.

”I can be satisfied with this result because my players were very great in some segments, in some not. This is football and we conceded a very stupid first goal,” says Marko.

The 25 year old tactician says he is not going to change much in training even as his side looks for a first win. Currently placed 15th on the 18-team log, Ingwe next host Vihiga United on the 29th of December.

”We will have active recovery from tomorrow and after that we will start our normal preparations, there’s nothing new. We just need to create more chances in the attacking third and we deserve to score more goals if we are to win,” continues the coach.

Marko however believes his opponents Sofapaka gave a good account of themselves fighting back twice and ensuring everything was shared. What worries him is the injury to Marvin which he terms a blow to the team’s preparations for the next match.

”We are going to prepare for our next match and I’d like to congratulate my opponents today for a very good fight. they gave us good competition in the second half. Marvin got a dangerous injury and that is  not good for us,” concludes the coach.

Leopards take on a Vihiga United side that went down 1-0 to SoNy Sugar on Sunday 23rd at Bukhungu- a side that is going through some rough financial patches and have won one of their opening three league fixtures.
