‘I Told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer To Let Players Enjoy Football’

Former Manchester United star Wayne Rooney has revealed he passed on some advice to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before the clash against Cardiff City.

The Norwegian made his debut in fantastic fashion despite only being in charge for just a few days.

United overcame their opponents 5-1 with Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Ander Herrera all amongst the goals.

Rooney would’ve himself enjoyed playing in his such a side having previously endured Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho’s reigns.

Solskjaer though was only hired as a caretaker manager and so has just a few months to convince the board to make the appointment permanent.

It’s interesting how Wayne suggests the players weren’t enjoying their football before and considering he played under all three managers of the post-Ferguson era, it’s quite telling.

There were always reports of such a thing happening but to hear it from an actual former player almost confirms it.

Nonetheless, it’s still early days and Solskjaer will have to pull out results even after the initial excitement over his tenure dies down.

Fans can be fickle at times and all it takes is one bad result for fans to begin questioning whether he’s the right man to lead the club forward.
