MC Jessy narrates losing his parents and fighting to the top

Losing a loved one is one of the most painful experience any human being can ever go through but the healing process is what matters.

Celebrated Churchill Show comedian Jasper Murume  we know him as one of the funniest people in Kenya whenever he takes the stage in the popular churchill show on NTV.

Jasper as we popularly know him as MC Jessy recently opened up losing hios parents at a very young age.

While speaking to Kalekye Mumo on her K24 Talk Central show MC Jessy said,  “My father passed on a long time ago, I never lived with my father for long. I saw him 3 times in my life. I grew up with my mum after my father passed on, I was in Embu County School. During the KCPE rehearsals my mother passed on, KCPE exams were on Tuesday my mum passed on that Monday. I sat for exams then that Friday I went to Meru and we buried her on Saturday. KCPE for me was a sad time.”

In addition he said“She was the breadwinner, I came from a very humble background. So when she passed on there was nobody to take care of me so I stayed in Meru. After the burial, I started living with my grandparents. I passed my exams but I stayed home for one year after the results as I didn’t have anyone to take me to school. I use to farm tomatoes, sukumawiki, we would get a little money. And then I used to dry tobacco that was taken to Marsabit for sale.”

He was under foster care of her auntie who took him through high school after which he  moved to Nairobi to pursue his acting dream. Life wasn’t easy and he slept in mitumba stalls for a month as he had nowhere to sleep.

While in the city, he would go to the Kenyan National Theatric for various auditions including for the Intrukalass show.

When Churchill Show came about he auditioned for its first season but failed to get in after auditioning for a whole year. As he was about to give up, he went to the loo and as he was washing his hands, he bumped into Churchill in a toilet and they got to talking. “I still love toilets, today,” MC Jessy joked.

That toilet conversation later landed him a job at the Churchill show for its second season.

 He did such a good job that he was promoted from a comedian to a TV Host for ‘Churchill Raw’. MC Jessy was recently feted at the Kalasha Awards for the ‘Best Performance in TV Comedy’ and ‘Best Host In A TV Show’ respectively, in the Television category.
