Solskjaer Reveals How He Reacted To Being Offered Man Utd Job After Mourinho Sacking

Solskjaer has replaced Mourinho as manager of Manchester United after the Red Devils chose to part ways with the 55-year-old on Tuesday morning.

For many, the appointment came out of the blue. The 45-year-old was occupied with Norweigan club FC Molde and, as a result, his arrival was a big surprise.

But Solskjaer has revealed he was unfazed at the prospect of taking over when Manchester United came calling.

“I didn’t think twice when Man Utd signed me as a player and I didn’t this time either. This is an honour and a privilege,” he said.

Solskjaer will only be at United until the end of the season as they eye Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino.

And the 45-year-old has played it coy when asked about taking on the role permanently.

“When you get a job like this and they ask you to sign for six months, you say ‘yeah, I’m happy to help out,’” he said.

“Of course, my job now is just for the next six months is to do as well and move the club forward as well as I can”

He also opened up on advice given to him by Sir Alex Ferguson.

“He’s influenced me with everything to be fair, the way he’s dealt with people the way he was manager of the club, how he kept 25 international players happy and hungry wanting to improve but also the staff in and around the place, he’s been my mentor but I didn’t understand early on he’d be my mentor,” he said.

“Towards the last, maybe the injury in 2003, I was making all the notes what he did in certain situations and I’ve already been in touch with him. There’s no one to get better advice from.”

Meanwhile, United have been linked with January moves for Douglas Costa and Kalidou Koulibaly.

And Solskjaer has revealed he WILL have a say on any possible transfers.

“I will have an input but the job is to get to know the players, observe them I’ve seen more or less every game from Norway but to get to know the players, what do I think I can improve them on and the club have got the recruitment and scouting,” he added.

“They’ve got their targets but I’ve not sat down and talked about that.”
