A huge fire broke out at Langata Army Barracks which is also known as the home of the popular Marroon commandos.
The inferno started at the Warrant Officers and Sergeants mess on Thursday evening at around midnight.
No deaths were reported but a lot of property was destroyed by the fire which was prolonged by the delay from the fire department.

According to eyewitness reports,Ā the cause of the overnight fire is yet to be established.

The Maroon CommandosĀ is a musical military bandĀ belonging toĀ 7th Kenya Rifles BattalionKenya Army InfantryĀ based at the Langata Barracks.
The group performsĀ benga,Ā rumbaĀ and other styles of music which are both original andĀ cover versions.
They are famous for churning out hits songs likeĀ Amka KumekuchaĀ andĀ Uvivu Mbaya.

On Wednesday a fire broke out at a firefighting equipment store in Ganjoni area, Mombasa County.
It took fire engines from the County government and Kenya Navy three hours to put it off, light rains notwithstanding.
A worker who spoke toĀ The StarĀ on condition of anonymity stated that the firm had old wiring system that could have ignited the flames as a result of an electrical fault.
