Could the ever outspoken Professor Magoha be leaving the Kenya National Examination Council come next year?

The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) Chairman Prof. George Magoha on Friday hinted towards the end of his term at the examination body come March 2019.

While giving his speech during the release of the 2018 KCSE exam KNEC headquarters, Prof. Magoha said alluded to the fact that he could be delivering his last speech as the KNEC boss at the function.

“I keep saying that no condition is permanent… and three years is a cycle… so if God planned that this will be my last speech, so be it. It is good… and it is well,” said Prof. Magoha.

The KNEC boss added that, should his term come to an end next year, then his only regrets would be failure to have the body offices secured in one place in South C as opposed to having a “smart warehouse” which houses the command and control centre linked to the containers where the examinations are stored.

In his speech, Magoha also hit out at parents whose children were caught up in examination malpractices saying they were the guilty party.

“The child is in the classroom… the child would not have gone out to to go and do the things that we have found they have done. It is us parents and some unscrupulous teachers,” said Prof. Magoha.

He also stated that the council had secured the entire examination process up to the container, adding that big problems came when the exams were dispatched from the containers to the schools.
