Ruto warns security officers against harassing boda boda operators

Deputy President William Ruto has today warned security officers against harassing boda boda operators.

Speaking in their defense, the Deputy President said that they are workers and business people  as any other and should therefore not be treated like robbers.

He also added that the government should look into their needs and concerns just like those of other workers.

There was an uproar from Kenyans that the boda boda riders need to be contained with some terming them as a recipe for disaster.

Kenyans claim that boda boda operators have become so rowdy and therefore if they are not striked soon enough it may result to lawlessness.

Some Kenyans even went to the extent of suggesting other jobs wishing that they had an alternative. This is proof that the perception people have of the business is not all that roses.

A section of Kenyans however say that it is s good business but it must be in accordance to the law  and riders must be  regulated, registered and traceable.

The government is blamed for not  placing proper laws when this boda boda business started blooming  and this has been linked as one of the reasons why it has been difficult to  regulate them.

The Deputy President today told the security officers to be gentle when dealing with Boda boda riders as they ask them to honour the law.

” Let us respect each other and be moderate we realize that this is your source of income.” he said

DP William Ruto also said that the government’s intention is to protect the boda boda business and  he also asked the operators not to get involved in criminal activities.
