The organisers of a concert to be headlined by Diamond Platnumz in Embu on December 24, say the party will proceed as planned, even after Tanzania’s arts regulator, BASATA, dared the banned artiste to defy its order.

BASATA announced on Tuesday that the singer and his compatriot, Rayvanny, are prohibited from performing within and outside their native Tanzania following their attitude of disdain toward the agency.

The two musicians, signed under Diamond’s WCB, sang the outlawed “Mwanza” song during the recent Wasafi processions in Tanzania.

As per BASATA, the song “Mwanza” contains lewd lyrics that encourage “horniness” and “anal sex” among listeners.

Diamond was scheduled to perform in Embu on December 24, Mombasa on December 26 and Nairobi on December 31.

The prohibition, which would ostensibly dispirit the organisers, has, instead, rejuvenated them to dare BASATA to make real their threat of charging Diamond Platnumz with treason should he go ahead and hold “outlawed” shows in Kenya.

“As I am speaking to you now, the singer [Diamond] is already in Kenya. He arrived yesterday [Wednesday]. Our Embu show, according to him and his management, will go on as planned. On our side, we haven’t bailed out on the agreement,” the organizer, who is a famous politician in Embu, revealed.
