Kenyans divide over abortion ban lift appeal

Kenyans have today expressed mixed reactions over  the recent  campaign and appeal to have the Mariestopes abortion ban lifted.

There is so much pressure online that has been addressed to the health CS Sicily Kariuki and generally the Ministry Of Health.

With some strongly  opposing the appeal as they say that the act is wrong and  brutal.

Some however support it with their defense point being the fact that Kenyan ladies will still resort to quack clinics or even seek other  means to procure abortions. Which could go all the wrong way if not done by a proper medical practitioner.

“It is better to have it safe” they say and  when they get the proper and safe services it reduces the health risks and dangers.

Earlier in November, Marie Stopes Kenya was directed to immediately cease and desist offering any form of abortion services in all its facilities within the republic.

Marie Stopes was also instructed to file a weekly report on all services rendered in its facilities for 60 days.

The ladies who were dependent on the facility to get safe abortion procured or get  related services have been unable to get that services ever since.

The Marie Stopes facility in Kenya through their twitter handle had earlier warned that the banning of the health facility from the practices will not be the end of women procuring abortion and will only expose them to quack clinics.

Several institution had constantly called out the health facility and even  spoke of filing a law suit.

This all began after their advertisement on the abortion service has attracted warnings from the Kenya Film Classification Board which is a regulatory body for film and adverts.
