Migori residents have been living in fear over a Sexually Transmitted Disease nicknamed ‘Jakadala’ which is said to be more deadly than AIDS.
For the past week, rumours on social media over the disease which is said to kill patients within five days of contacting it.
“There is a Very Serious STI in Busia County called “JAKADALA”. It kills in 5 days and the Images are very Heartbreaking and disgusting. If you can’t use a Condom just abstain fam.” BRAVIN
“There is a lot of talk of the disease called Jakadala which rumours said it has terrible signs, already a disease surveillance team is out to ascertain facts,” Isca Oluoch, the county Health Executive confirmed to Migori News.
Migori county executive in charge of Health Dr. Isca Olouch has however said that they are not able to substantiate the Sexually Transmitted Disease dubbed Jakadala by locals that has caused panic in the area.
According to Dr. Olouch the county diseases surveillance team that has been on the ground for the past one week since the Jakadala outbreak claim started has not been able to come up with substantial information to inform the existence of the disease.
The Health CEC said the locals should treat it as a rumour but at the same time appealed to the locals to avoid multiple partners and unprotected sex.
She said condoms are provided for free at public hospital facilities and therefore the residents should use it to protect themselves from sexually transmitted diseases.
The Jakadala outbreak claim, which has been the talk of the county for the past one week has thrown majority of the Migori county residents into a panic with many claiming the disease kills its victims within a week even though no cases of death have been reported.
