Raila is an opportunist, claims Khalwale

The March 9th handshake between president Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM Leader Raila Odinga was one of the most memorable events of 2018 if theres anything to go by.

Not everyone was happy about the handshake especially politicians who have vested interests but then it was for the better considering that Hon. Raila Odinga had never accepted that he was beaten in both the 2013 and 2017 presidential elections. Moreover the handshake brought peace and calmed down the hullabalos in the political scene.

However, ten months later some politicians are still politicising the handshake, according to some leaders in the Western region have come out accusing Raila Odinga of using the famous Handshake to ruin the good relationship between DP Ruto and President Kenyatta.

According to Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa of Jubilee Party, “Raila is using the handshake to revive his political ambitions and that is why he is using ODM parliamentarians to hurl unprintable insults against the Deputy President whenever they arise to the podium to speak.”

His sentiments were echoed by former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale where he refered to Raila Odinga as an Opportunist, meaning that he is looking to destabilize Ruto’s 2022 ambitions of becoming the fifth President of Kenya.

In addition he said, “We will oppose referendum calls if the constitutional amendments are aimed at creating more positions to resurrect some people politically. Raila’s calls for constitutional review are not genuine and we will not support him,”

Well, There has been rumours that Uhuru and Ruto’s relationship is deteroriating by day since the handshake, however no one has proof of that as neither the President nor the DP has come out saying so after all Ruto is still the DP until otherwise.
