Kilifi Residents are reported to be vouching for the lifting of the disco matanga ban.
With Disco Matanga being one of the listed factors that lead to teenage pregnancies in Kilifi county, the discos were banned.
Even despite the ban, there are reports that the police are now extorting money from people who want to get a permit to host the discos.
Some leaders have been angered by the fact that police are seemingly taking advantage of the situation and making good money out of it.
Some have also complained that the implementation of this ban has not been effective or helpful and therefore it is not really offering a solution to the the menace it was meant to deal with.
During the national examination period, the pregnancy rate was so alarming calling for some action.
The residents fear that girls are still at the risk of getting pregnant even with the ban in place and the county government should have other initiatives to curb early pregnancies.
There are also complaints that the law is only used on the poor and not those of a higher social class.
The controversial debate of the disco matanga ban continues to raise a heated argument as some leaders have called upon the country government administration to deal with the other factors that lead to early pregnancy with the same intensity.
