County Government of Kilifi has made giant strides in revamping the tourism industry & putting Kilifi on the international map not only as a beach holiday destination, but also as a full culture and making it one of the best destinations in the world.
The Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi yesterday said that they have taken up an initiative to make sure that they make known of their destinations and tourist attraction sites through digital marketing.
This will be done through an app called this is Kilifi that can be downloaded on google playstore just like any other application.
According to the Kilifi governor, this move comes after they were confronted by big and major tour operators with the issue of the destination not being very friendly and also not so much is known about the destination.
“If we rely on the traditional way of marketing it will be difficult for people to know about the destination but through an e platform it can be easy for us to reach many people by only a touch of one button” he said
During the launch some leaders present included Tourism CS Najib Balala who pledged to support this initiative to see the expansion of the tourism sector in Kilifi County.
Through the newly launched app, one can easily identify the sites to visit in different parts of the coastal region including; Malindi, Kilifi, Watamu, Kikambala and Mtwapa.
It also highlights and gives the option to get accommodation services, food joints as well as the culture and scheduled events.
