Arsenal are interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez, according to reports in Spain. The 24-year-old has barely featured for the Spanish champions this season as he has played twice in the Copa del Rey and made one 10-minute substitute appearance in the Champions League.
Suarez has less than two years remaining on his current deal with Barca, but he has been heavily linked with a move away in the January transfer window. And according to RAC1, Arsenal are keen on signing the Spaniard but will face competition from AC Milan.
The report also claims that Barca have told Suarez that they would be willing to sell him in January if they receive the right offer from Arsenal. Suarez has been linked with a move to Chelsea, but reports last month claimed that he was intent on staying at Barca. And Arsenal could have an advantage as Suarez played under Unai Emery during his loan spell at Sevilla.
Unai Emery is believed to be in the market for an attacker especially due to the injury suffered by striker Danny Welbeck that ruled the English striker out for possibly the rest of the season.
Mesut Ozil who is the team’s chief creator has also missed the last three Premier League games owning to a back injury and is expected to be out for a while too.
Arsenal’s next match sees them welcome relegation threatened Huddersfield at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. The Gunners are 5th on the log with 31 points, level with 4th place Chelsea.
