President Uhuru Kenyatta made an historic visit to Nyanza region on Thursday. The visit was received with a lot of hype as the people turned out in large numbers to welcome the head of state.
Few months ago , after the general election that saw the country divided along tribal lines , The President was unwelcome guest. His presidency was received with a lot of opposition from the people of Nyanza region who largely pledge their allegiance to the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
But the miraculous handshake between him and Mr. Raila Odinga healed the wound that was huanting the people of Nyanza region.
His visit spelt blessings to the region which was starved off government direct projects. For the very first time Kisumu will be among the chosen few counties that will pilot the Universal Health Care Program among counties such as Isiolo,Nyeri and Machakos.
The people of Kisumu and Nyanza will now benefit from Free Health Care.
But During the visit, President Uhuru Kenyatta raised very controversial issues. His first stop in Ahero he condemned those defending tribal lines in the fight against corruption saying the state will not relent.
During the launch, Uhuru addressed the issue of leadership and current state of governance. President Uhuru addressed the issue of representation in the National government. The President has raised the representation of communities in the national government saying the system must be revisited.
The President also talked about Presidency which is the main cause of divisions in the country. According to the President the system must be amended.
This relates to Raila’s three tier proposal that will see the nation turned into a Parlaimentary system. This means that the people will be deprived off their powers to elect the President. The powers will be granted to the MPs who will elect the President.
This Betrays DP Ruto’s ambition who has been leading ,many missions in efforts to urge Kenyans to support his ambition for Presidency.
This means that DP Ruto is seeking a seat that will not be their in 2022.
