During the conferring ceremony The President officially launched The Teaching and Research Laboratory. This Laboratory will be a center of research for the region for it is fully equipped to high standards.
The event was also attended by CS in charge of Education Ambassador Amina Mohammed. This comes as the President early last month in South Africa promised to increase the budget share to education in order to even surpass the international set standard.
The President has opened projects including commissioning of Ahero tarmac road, standard gauge railway project and a new Kisumu port.
But the milestone of the visit is the launching of the pilot episode of the Universal Health care in Kisumu. Other counties piloting the programme include Nyeri, Machakos and Isiolo.
This program is aimed at creating a better and healthy Kenya. It is aimed at subsidizing the treatment cost while increasing the standards of our health sector to match with the international standards.

Uhuru joins a list of other leaders who received similar awards today. Chief Justice Maraga and former prime minister Raila Odinga also received honorary doctorate degrees from Daystar and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University respectively which is holding its 6th Graduation ceremony.
A month ago, the University had only confirmed Raila for the award of honorary doctorate degree in Science before changing its tune to include president Kenyatta.
