The sorry state of security in Kenya is to a point where the police and civilians are fighting each other instead of criminals, worse of all seems the police have decided to turn into dangerous goons. where do Kenyans run to when the men harming them are the ones highered to protect them?

In shocking reports,police are probing a case in which officers from Kapedo camp stormed Mandera police station and forcibly released their colleague being held over robbery with violence.

The 14 officers attached to the Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU)at Kapendo camp went to the Mandera station and started firing in the air and one of them demanded the cell key from police commander James Maina while pointing a G3 rifle at him.

He complied and the officers opened the cell, which had 12 detainees, and released Corporal Richard Githaka Karanja, who was to take a plea on Friday.The other 11 prisoners remained in the cell.

After the RDU officers had rescued their colleague, they fired in the air and headed towards their camp, five kilometres No one was injured in the fracas.

The officers said they could not allow general duty officers to detain their colleague.

The OCS, two station guards, cell sentry personnel and the signaller were present during the incident.

Mandera East OCPD visited the scene. Normal operations have resumed at the station.

There has been a recent trend where civilians have, for one reason or another, felt justified to attack police officers on duty.

The individual who took the viral clip and the Tuk Tuk driver justified the attack and claimed that the man had been angered by the conduct of the two police officers. He accused the two of smashing the side mirror and windscreen of his vehicle during a routine traffic stop.

In yet another shocking incident, a police officer was forcibly searched by passengers who accused him of taking bribes.

In the video of the case early this year, the officer could not convince the angry passengers to let him go without parting with the amount they claimed he had collected.The video attracted a public debate.
