William Kabogo assures Eliud Kipchoge an award after missing on president’s list

On Wednesday, during the Jamhuri day celebrations at Nyayo National Stadium, President Uhuru Kenyatta accorded several recipients presidential awards and honours.

Ten governors, Kenya’s top public prosecutor Noordin Haji and top crime buster George Kinoti were among those who received the awards.

ODM party chairman John Mbadi who also joined the governors in the list of those conferred with Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (EGH) Second Class.

The awards were “in recognition of distinguished and outstanding services rendered to the nation in various capacities and responsibilities”, according to the gazette notice dated December 11, 2018.

The governors who were honoured with EGH second class are Ali Joho (Mombasa), Martin Wambora (Embu), Samuel Tunai (Narok), Cornel Rasanga (Siaya), Josphat Nanok (Turkana), Alex Tolgos (Elgeyo Marakwet), Jackson Mandago (Uasin Gishu), Dr Alfred Mutua (Machakos),  Dr Joyce Laboso (Bomet) and Anne Waiguru (Kirinyaga).

However, the World’s great marathoner of all times Eliud Kipchoge missed on the President’s list. Kipchoge was recently awarded by IAAF as the world marathoner of the year.

His name failing to appear on the list of those who honored yesterday stirred the internet, with most netizens complaining on why Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru was awarded instead of Kipchoge, with many doubting her achievements.

However, former Kiambu governor William Kabogo has come out to tell off those complaining of missing the awards. He rather assured them of awards elsewhere. Guess where?

Kabogo, while speaking to Milele FM this morning, said those who missed the awards and indeed deserved them, they should stop complaining since they will be awarded in heaven. Should Kipchoge wait for his Kenyan award in heaven?

Well, Kabogo however encouraged Kenyans to work towards achievements in heaven rather than earthly gifts.
