The Trial of Kivutha Kibwana, Will he Survive?

The Culture of impunity and Corruption seem to have been well mastered in Kenya. It is a culture that has thrived so much that people that do things the right way are often seen as violators of a given code of conduct or as it is now known, the code of conduct for cartels.

One person that has apparently violated the code of conduct for cartels is Makueni Governor Dr Kivutha Kibwana. This is a man that has been making headlines for all the good reasons.

The highlight of them all was when he alongside first lady Margaret Kenyatta officially opened the Makueni Mother and Child Hospital.

His good deeds have mesmerized Kenyans on Twitter with the Key Board Warriors now putting the Makueni County Boss on trial.

In the trial, Kivutha has been accused of the following:

  • He built a hospital, but the contractor was not his friend or relative.
  • He forgot to inflate cost by 400%.
  • He forgot to ask contractor to deposit 20% in his kids’ accounts.

With the above accusations, the Makueni County Chief will definitely plead guilty but one thing that will make him standout among many Kenyan governors is his resolve to work for the great people of Makueni.

Makueni’s ultra-modern mother and child hospital will be the first public facility in Kenya to offer aqua-birth services.

The aqua birth which is a designated birth pool will be of use to the women to immerse themselves in the water vessels to ease pain during labor.

The Sh140m fully County-funded facility has a capacity of 120 beds for mothers and 80 for the neonates and has been built over four financial years.

The facility which is the third biggest mother and child unit in Kenya after the one in Nakuru that has 250 bed capacity and also the Pumwani maternity hospital was seen as a hope for many women in Makueni and beyond Counties with the First lady being optimistic that it will reverse both maternal and child mortality rate in the region.

The Makueni County governor Kivutha Kibwana remained hopeful that the facility will reach not only the Makueni residents but beyond.“This facility will not only benefit our people in this County but even those in other Counties”, Kibwana noted.

Based on his good development record, Does Kivutha Kibwana have what it takes to be Kenya’s head of state?
