Reports indicated that numerous complaints by Kenyan users was the reason behind the introduction of the new option.

To access the 24-hour call option, the user needs to tap on the ‘Help’ option located in the main menu of the app and choose ‘Call’ to get into contact with the Uber support team.

The move by Uber will ease the frustration witnessed by its users who had to send very long messages to report a problem.

The taxi-app company however explained that users had to still call the local emergency line which is 999 112 911 or use the Uber in-app emergency button.

In May, reports revealed that drivers of the taxy company in the country had been robbing its riders by inflating the fare charges through use of dummy apps.

The dummy apps would extend the distance travelled by the commuters by interfering with Uber app’s GPS reading which would create a parallel travel path hence prolonging the journey.

Passengers would end up being forced to pay double or triple the amount charged.

Following the complaints, most users doubted the accuracy and confidence in the automated billing system.
