Are you happy with the services provided by your county?Well, vocal female politician Ngilu has raised concerns over time wastages that may be the reason some county services are poor.

Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu wants Members of County Assembly to ensure bills are passed on time to improve service delivery.

Speaking at Mbondoni Catholic Church on Sunday, Ngilu cited the county Supplementary Budget Bill pending before the Assembly, which she said if not passed, will hamper service delivery.

“If we do not put into proper use public resources we are entrusted with, we will not succeed in improving the living standards of our constituents,” she said.

Ngilu said there is no time for  politics or to engage in leadership squabbles but instead, to work for the people of Kitui.

She has also urged women to turn up in large numbers  in public participation forums to advance their interests under the Community Level Infrastructure Development Projects formula.

“Women should occupy leadership positions and fearlessly advance their interests to ensure they are heard,” she said.

This advise comes as the MPs are still divided on whether to support the two-third gender bill.

Parliament was on a Wednesday forced to defer the gender bill after MPs appeared to defy President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition chiefs Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka by staying away from the House.

To pass the bill, Parliament required a total of 233 MPs to vote in its support, but at the time Majority leader Aden Duale rose to seek its deferment, only 212 MPs were present, 21 short of the required numbers.

The absenteeism was despite the fact that both Mr Odinga and Mr Musyoka were in the Speaker’s gallery to demonstrate their support for the proposed law, which aims to have more women in the country’s elective positions, in line with the provisions of the Constitution.

Mr Muturi accepted the request by Mr Duale to have the bill put on hold until February next year as the House is set to proceed on the long Christmas recess

Even so women came out strongly to defend the gender bill more so when an MP bashed the positions to be a space for slay queens to enter parliament.
