A Kisumu Court has today ruled in favour of Homa Bay Speaker Elizabeth Ayoo when it extended orders allowing Ayoo to continue serving despite rejection by Members of County Assembly until case is decided.
The Homa Bay county speaker has been faced with a lot of opposition especially by MCAs who have at one point even impeached her on grounds that her integrity had become questionable.
Ayoo later filed an urgent application asking the court to reinstate her saying her impeachment was unconstitutional and went against the house standing orders.
Ruling in her favour, Justice James Rika reinstated Ayoo to her position and barred MCAs and the county public service board from appointing any other person as speaker until the case is determined. After her impeachment, the Homa Bay County speaker was reinstated by the Labour relations court but her attempts to resume duty have however, been thwarted by MCAs who have vowed not to allow her back to office.
The bile between the speaker and MCAs got out of hand last week when her office was broken into by goons who according to Ms. Ayoo, broke three plastic chairs and sprayed a choking substance in her office.
They MCAs had accused Ayoo of orchestrating the chaos in the county assembly during which deputy sergeant-at-arm Idah Arodi was arrested and charged.
