Top Dj tarnish “lamba lolo” as mediocrity of the year

Kenyan Pioneer Dj  Pinye has today thrown shade over Kenyan music. Even though we are encouraged to  support our own, the Dj may seem to have a contrary opinion.

We are all after good music and also he might have a point but Kenyans don’t think so. Having that some of the songs he termed as mediocre are some of the club bangers and major hits, Kenyans have been left in awe after his remark.

Dj Pinye has today mentioned that there are songs that he cannot play as a DJ  including songs by the Ethics Group; ‘Lamba Lolo’ and ‘New Position’ which was a collabo with Kansoul.

The Dj insists that in their career they should not play amateurish music.

Adding on to his remarks, he also pointed out that he never used to play  songs by Kenya’s rapper Khaligraph Jones and DNA.

According to him, he feels that it is now when their music career is all grown. Kenyans have linked the Dj’s statement to ‘Kamati ya Roho mbaya’. Many have been shook by how it is possible for someone to brag because of denying other people opportunities.

How is that something to brag about?

DJ Pinye was famously known for Deejaying in the Beat show, which is one of the most watched music programs in East Africa.

Dj Pinye started the show after deejaying for Nation and Capital FM in the late 90s and early 2000s.

Although some Kenyans on his side have said that just because a song is a hit does not mean a Dj should play it. The concern is how he had the opportunity to support the music career of Kenyan artists yet he had some people he had ‘BlackListed’

The Dj has been in the industry for over 20 years and even as many oppose his argument he could actually have a point.
