Sonko puts a smile on faces of Nairobi KCPE top performers

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has today put a smile on the faces of KCPE top performers  by offering bursaries to the top three students in every primary school in Nairobi.

This is a move by the governor to ensure that  he promotes education for the students to secure the future generation.

As promised by Sonko’s administration he is determined to promote education since it’s the key to the future of the young generation.

Today Sonko’s  administration issued executive bursaries to top three 2018 KCPE candidates in every public primary school in Nairobi.

Sonko made an appeal to head teachers from the schools who are picking the bursaries to ensure they deliver the bursaries to the students to enable them join form 1 on time.

The Nairobi City County Government through Education CEC Janet Ouko has already issued Ward bursary forms to all the 85 Wards.

A total of Sh285m has been set aside for the Ward bursary scheme and each Ward is allocated Sh3.5m.

President Uhuru Kenyatta inhis efforts to promote education said that Kenya will increase its national budget allocation to education to reach 30 percent, making it among the highest in Africa.

In a video address to thousands of African youths attending the “Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100” in Johannesburg, South Africa on Sunday evening, President Kenyatta said his administration will go beyond the global expectation of 20 percent national budget allocation to education.

“I want to go one step further, and this year I pledge, to you my fellow global citizens, that in Kenya our education budget will be closer to 30 per cent of our total budget, making it probably the highest on the African continent,” he said

This is a good move from both the  county and national  government as they work in unison to ensure that educational needs are met.
