Manchester United defender heading for the exit door?

Manchester United defenders may be hard to find these days with most of them either laid out on the treatment table or hiding from Jose Mourinho. One man who falls into both of those categories is Italian full-back Matteo Darmian who could venture out of Old Trafford this January as he seeks regular football once again.

The 29-year-old remarkably did not leave the club in the summer despite looking almost certain to rejoin one of the several Serie A sides interested in his signature. He looked set to sign for Juventus at one point although then they splashed all of their cash on a certain C.Ronaldo.

Then, Inter were ‘Interested’ (see what I did there) but that move also failed to materialise. Now it appears he could be rejoining the Fulham, revolution that is taking place under Claudio Ranieri at Craven Cottage.

That is according to Italian publication, TuttoMercatoWeb , who believe that Fulham are targeting a loan move in January with a view to a permanent deal in the summer.

Darmian is thought to prefer a return to his homeland but a move away from Old Trafford in any capacity looks to be highly likely next month, with game time becoming increasingly hard to come by at Old Trafford, despite Mourinho’s dodgy defence.

Fulham are looking to bring a touch more experience to their backline after a shocking clean sheet record under former boss Slavisa Jokanovic. Perhaps Ranieri will bring a bit more solidity to Craven Cottage and give the newly-promoted side a decent chance of staying in the Premier League.
