First Lady Beyond Zero initiative bags an International Prestigious award

The first lady of the Republic of Kenya has been running a number of projects for the country. Her efforts with no doubt are commendable.

Just like the President with the Big Four Agenda, Margaret Kenyatta has prioritized in making the women be recognized and get a better access to health.She has been a pillar in pushing for the Universal Health which is Uhuru biggest pledge to Kenyans.

Most women especially in area that were marginalized by the previous governments have always owed gratitude to Margaret Kenyatta for her efforts.

Her efforts are hitting the international headlines and the world cant keep calm but appreciate her.

Margaret Kenyatta has been awarded the prestigious Eastern Africa Lifetime Achievement Award for her relentless efforts to stop preventable maternal and newborn deaths in the country through her ‘Beyond Zero’ initiative.

The recognition also considered the First Lady’s sustained efforts towards the elimination of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV, an intervention that has led to a significant reduction of new transmissions among newborn babies.

The First Lady received the award from the EY Group during the organization’s Eastern Africa Chapter Entrepreneur Of the Year Award (EOY) 2018 gala dinner held at a Nairobi hotel Wednesday evening. She was the chief guest at the event.

EY’s chief executive officer Gitahi Gachachi described the First Lady as a global icon whose efforts had touched millions of Kenyans.

The EY Lifetime Achievement Award is a special honour that recognizes individuals who have successfully initiated unique interventions that end up touching many lives in a special way, like Beyond Zero which has impacted the health of many mothers and children across Kenya.

The latest honour for the First Lady is among several other awards she has received over the last five years including the 2014 UN person of the year award and the 2017 Fellow of Honoris Cusa Award from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) which was presented to her in Cape Town, South Africa.
