Kenya Premier League Giants Gor Mahia FC traveled for the Champions League clash in two batches, this after they failed to get a direct plan for Blantyre.

“Due to lack of a direct flight that could accommodate the whole team, travel arrangements have been made in two batches – the first batch of 16 people left on Monday at 6.15am aboard a direct Ethiopian Airline flight to Blantyre, while the second batch of nine people will be leaving on Tuesday morning – at 6.15am via Addis Ababa, ” read a statement by the Club.

The club’s chairman Ambrose Rachier said that as much as they would wish to have the whole team travel together, they faced challenges in trying to get one direct flight that could accommodate that number.

“It’s been rather hectic to get a direct flight for the whole team and we couldn’t wait for Tuesday because the match is on Wednesday. Players need to be there in good time to have enough rest and train for the match. Doing two batches was the only option available for us,” the chairman told the official Gor Mahia website.

The team will be coming back on Thursday (6th December) and prepare for the first league match of the season against Bandari – away in Mombasa on Saturday.

Can they finish the Job?
