The Nairobi City County announced the plans to decongest city starting from 3rd December. Most people thought they are normal threats from the governor but this time round it is happening.

People have been forced to walk long distances to access the City. The Matatus are dropping passengers at the designated zones as declared by the Nairobi City County.
This has affected most commuters who have turned out in large numbers to blame the situation.
Although it may seem as a bright idea but it was never thought upon. It was simply picked from a book with someone incompetent then placed for the people to follow.
OTHER COUNTRIES
Other countries which have tried this kind of system provided people with an alternative means to make them access the CBD. If you take a look at countries like Tanzania, Rwanda where the law of no matatus accessing the capital city, they have introduced cheap, ready and accessible means where the people are dropped in their working places.
The BRT project could have served as an alternative if the law was applied but right now their are no alternatives rather than walking to town or to your work place.
Disadvantages of Sonko’s law
The plan to decongest the city has many demerits than good sides. First the dropping points of the buses are not even well planned and designed to accommodate the number of buses in each route. For instance Jogoo road has no stage where all matatus can drop the passengers.

The walking trails and pavements are not their such that people are forced to walk in the roads to access CBD. And in case of rains the whole situation is a complete mess.
The Disabled people have not been considered in this new directive by Sonko. They have no alternative to reaching to their work place.
This is the situation in Ngara, Nairobi as the #MatatuCBDBan is effected. Will this help cleanup and decongest Nairobi? pic.twitter.com/AtE1vrdEd2

How do you allow a personal car with only one person then a car with 14 passengers is not allowed ? It beats logic.

The rate of crimes are going to increase as the streets are not safe especially at night.Pickpockets , mugglers are going to take advantage of the situation.

The footbridges lack the capacity of holding the number of peopleΒ using them right now, unless the country is prepared for a calamity.
Which way do you think Sonko could have adapted to make this plan achievable?
