When they finally get around to making the Jamie Vardy movie they may need to update it to include this season and there would be one person perfect to play his new Leicester City team-mate James Maddison.

Lady Gaga.

The meat-wearing warbler has been tipped for an Oscar nomination for her role as an up-and-coming singer who is thrust into the limelight and goes on to become a huge hit in A Star is Born .

Maddison is a Premier League star born this season.

The 22-year-old’s star status hasn’t shone as brightly as it did during City’s 2-0 win over Watford at the King Power Stadium as his stunning strike stole the show.

Like all great tales, there was a major plot twist last week when he endured his own film noir following his dismissal at Brighton for a poorly-judged dive. The hero became the villain, but like all cinematic heroes he bounced back this week to enjoy his finest hour in a City shirt.

The Coventry-born talent has great technical ability and he demonstrated it with his superb touch and skill to juggle the ball between two defenders before burying a sweet volley past the hapless Ben Foster.

With two thirds of the season still to go it has hard to imagine there will be an even better City goal this season, and if there is then Maddison will likely score it.

It wasn’t just his match-defining moment that caught the eye. Fired up after his public shame of seven days ago, Maddison had the bit between his teeth from the start, floating into space between Watford’s rigid system to cause havoc as he had done at the start of the campaign.

In the weeks before his red card he had gone off the boil. He wasn’t as effective and involved in games. In the first half against the Hornets he seemed to be involved in every attacking move as City played a vintage counter-attacking game.

There is still room for improvement and he can get better. Certainly he can get physically stronger so he doesn’t tire in the latter stages of games and remain a threat for the entire 90 minutes.

Of course this story wasn’t all about Maddison and he had an effective supporting cast, most notably from Vardy himself and the excellent Marc Albrighton.
