VIDEO: Tweeps angered by viral video of student bullying

Bullying in schools is still taking core despite the strict measures that are put in place to curb the behavior.

In Kenya, we have heard of many of these cases  but good thing  they seem to have died off. I have not heard of any lately. Have you?

Well apart from the level of indiscipline by the Ambira Boys students over the viral video which was openly rebuked.

In March last year , a study put Kenya in the top on a global bullying chart.

Datasets from the World Health Organisation-backed Global School-based Student Health Survey indicated that violence among adolescents in Kenya is highly widespread in schools.

At the national level, bullying in schools in Kenya stands at 57 per cent for students who are bullied on one or more days in a month.

But whereas in most parts of the country, the prevalence of bullying is almost equal to that at the national level, in western Kenya, the percentage of students bullied on one or more days in a month is about 66 per cent.

Although this could be one of the issues that is overlooked, It is always important that such matters are addressed.

Victims usually go through self hate, trauma and might even have low self esteem or contemplate suicide.

In an incident that was captured on camera beyond borders, a student  goes on to another and pushes him and grabs his neck.

Tweeps came in to the rescue of the student after they made the video go viral so that the bully may be identified and punished for his act.

The Irish Sun reveals that Police confirmed that  the 16-year-old boy is set to be charged with assault over the incident.

The alleged attacker has been inundated with death threats on social media after disturbing footage of a 15-year-old boy being assaulted was shared tens of thousands of times online.

The matter is now in the police and the victim will be served with justice. What lesson do we learn? Maybe never wait till it is too late.

For some reason this matter was quickly addressed otherwise with the death threats, who knows what would have happened.
