Too strange? Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri responds to Alvaro Morata new hairstyle

And it has been strangely suggested to the Italian the striker’s HAIRCUT could change him as a player.

The Spain international has endured challenging times at Stamford Bridge since arriving in the summer of 2017.

Bought for £70m from Real Madrid, the No.29 has failed to really justify his price-tag.

But of late, Morata has regained his place in Sarri’s starting XI and goals are being found on a more consistent basis.

The 26-year-old has seven goals in all competitions this term, and four have come in the last month.

He came off the bench in last night’s 4-0 Europa League triumph at home to PAOK, scoring within three minutes of making it onto the pitch.

Morata was showing off a fresh trim too off the back of a difficult game at Tottenham on Saturday.

The ex-Juventus man struggled to shine, being subbed on 58 minutes at Wembley, as Chelsea lost for the first time in a competitive game under their new manager.

“With a new haircut, he scored with a header” Maurizio Sarri.

Sarri was bizarrely asked if Morata’s haircut has made him a more no-nonsense player amid questions over his application.

And the Chelsea boss replied: ”I don’t know, I don’t know. But Morata is serious.

“It’s not a problem, not a problem with his attitude for the group or for me.

“In the training, he’s doing very well. In the last month he has scored. So Morata is not a problem.”

He jokingly added: ”With a new haircut, he scored with a header.”

Olivier Giroud is pressing for a return to the starting line up in the Premier League after his brace last night. The Frenchman headed in Chelsea’s consolation at Tottenham from off the bench on Saturday – his first Premier League goal of the season.

And the 32-year-old followed it up with two goals in 75 minutes against PAOK. It looks likely, though, that Sarri will stick with Morata for the London derby at home to Fulham on Sunday (12pm).

On last night giving his two hitmen a psychological boost, Sarri said: “I think so, like Giroud, like Morata. I am really very happy with this. “Two strikers scored in this match so, for us, I think that’s really very important to have two strikers with confidence.”
