Months after being arrested by immigration officials and left stranded in the Country,Lee Albert Davis Jr says he was set up by his ex Kenyan lover.
Lee Albert Davis Jr and Elizabeth Wanjiku unceremoniously parted ways after he was arrested by immigration officials who took him to Nyeri County on September 25, two months after he landed in the country on July 22.
The immigration officer in charge of Mt Kenya region Julius Kobia says the foreigner had no work permit after they found him working at their joint wines and spirits business.
His team took away two cans of Guarana, a bottle of water and a receipt as exhibits.
“We communicated to Mr Lee that he was breaking the law by working in the country without a permit and asked him to report to the offices in the morning where he would get further clarification on the offence,” says Kobia, adding that Lee failed to show up, disappeared and switched off his phones.
According to Kobia, the American should be deported since his visa expired on October 22, 2018. “We would like to advise Mr Lee to present himself to the immigration offices in person to collect his documents and be processed,” states Kobia.
While giving a different version of what transpired, Davis Jr says he has never switched off his phone and that the arrest was a setup by his lover.
He claims Wanjiku forced him to serve customers against his will. It was during service that three people who had walked into the liquor shop as clients, turned out to be immigration officials.
“On the fateful day, Ciiku asked me to man the till in the shop. I initially declined but she encouraged me. Soon, four people, including a woman, walked in and placed an order of drinks. Ciiku asked me to serve them but I told her I didn’t know the prices. She gave me instructions on the price and who to write out the receipt to, which had been demanded by the customers. I was arrested by the same people who accused me of working without a permit,” he recounts.
