Court documents seen by the Star show the American authorities struck a deal with Bakhtash Akasha and Ibrahim Akasha in exchange for a lenient punishment after their conviction.More and more Kenyans are getting wind of the Akasha story. A drug smuggling syndicate that has been unfolding like one of those blockbuster movies. But question is, why would the Chief Justice come out to defend implicated judges. Is there something that he is hiding?Image result for maraga

Close to a month ago Chief Justice David Maraga came out ranting over the unfair condemnation of judges. He was categorically referring to the judges that have been linked to the drug trafficking scandal, Justice Chacha Mwita and Justice Dora Chepwony rubbishing claims of the allegations instead of keeping quiet and waiting for investigators to arrive at his own house as posted by one Kenyan on social media.Image result for maraga

Ironically, less than a week ago realizing that the allegations were gaining momentum, Maraga came out to save face admitting that indeed there is corruption in the judiciary which was contradictory as he earlier strongly denied that was corruption in the Judiciary.

Fearful of being swallowed into the Akasha torrent, he seemed to be distancing himself from the implicated judges as he is indeed aware of their questionable conduct in judicial matters and does not want to destabilize the status quo of his ‘Wakora Network’ as they are among the top judges in the hierarchy of the famous Wakora Network.

The Akasha brothers Bhaktash Akasha and Ibrahim Akasha confessed under oath the judges and magistrates who they offered millions of shillings as an inducement to forestall the their extradition. Mentioned in a number of reports on mainstream media, the said judges were paid to stop the extradition process which ended up being delayed and beforehand, all court cases against the Akasha cases failed to produce results.

The Akasha’s seemed to have swallowed up the Judiciary like a piece of cake as the case that linked them to the brutal murder of a South African businessman failed to produce results despite the numerous evidence produced. Reports have indicated that the US Drug Enforcement Agency has openly opened files on Judges Dora Chepkwony and Chacha Mwita as well as the Akasha lawyer among others.

Having a record of releasing high profile terror suspects in less than 60 days, Justice Dora Chepkwony initiated numerous acquittals of high profile terror and poaching suspects. She has even acquitted suspects linked to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria terror group ISIS. The said judge acquitted Haniya Sagar, a widow of the slain Islamic preacher, of a ten year jail sentence. Furthermore, she acquitted Feisal Mohammed Ali a poacher who was listed by Interpol as the world’s most wanted wildlife trophy trafficker who had been jailed for 20 years and fined Sh20 million after being caught in possession of two tonnes of ivory worth Sh44million.In another instance, she has set free a terror convict who was jailed for 8 years for being in possession of hand grenades that were to be used in a terror attack.

Justice Chacha Mwita on his part suspended criminal charges against Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu despite the Director of Public Prosecution office producing sufficient evidence of corrupt dealings by Philomena which would make wonder whether Mwilu is immune to prosecution. Appearing to also be a facilitator for terrorism, he suspended sections of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act that President Uhuru Kenyatta had passed which sought to penalize against several vices including sharing of fake news, pornography, cyber terrorism and cybersquatting. Vices that are discouraged to promote acceptable societal morals.

For the said judges it is about protecting the interests of the intricate Wakora network headed by Maraga created to destabilize government functioning and eventually creating chaos.

As we await the names of the two said magistrates, the country can only watch and wait as the faces of corrupt judicial official are unveiled one by one.
