The family of Raila Odinga has been going through alot after losing their first born son Fidel Odinga, Rosemary has gone blind a top secret the family kept allow her adjust to new life.
On Tuesday, Ms Odinga donates 60 sewing machines at Raila Odinga Education Center in Kibra where she spoke for the first time openly about her situation.
While delivering her speech she said, “Leo sina sauti sana kama vile mmenizoea (my voice is not as strong as you know it). I am getting more confident now on my new life after losing my sight following the surgery.
In addition she said, “I am happy to see you people get these machines which I know after the training will play a big role in addressing the issue of unemployment in our community.”
Rosemary lost her eyesight after undergoing brain tumour treatment, but details about her health remained a secret for almost a year until she first confessed about her blindness two weeks ago in Bondo.
The aide at Capitol Hill who spoke in confidence said the family felt it appropriate to keep the sad news as secret until she recovered and adjusted to her new situation.
“We were not allowed to speak anything about it. She had first to recover from surgery and adjust to the situation. That’s why nobody spoke about the sad news,” he said.
Currently, Ms Odinga usually works from her father’s Nyali home and she’s under close monitoring of aides throughout including doctors.
The eldest daughter of Raila Odinga bolted out of Kibra constituency race days after being discharged from the South African hospital in 2017.
