Rosemary Odinga Remains Committed to the Course Even After Going Blind

The say that when life gives you a lemon you make a lemonade from it seem to be having a positive impact on Opposition Chief Raila Odinga’s daughter Rosemary.

Just like a year ago, Rosemary was bracing herself to pip Kibera MP Ken Okoth to the Member of Parliament’s seat in Kibera constituency.

Her dreams were however cut short after she developed a medical condition that required specialized treatment. She therefore had to let go of her ambitions of being a member of Parliament.

Rosemary has however picked up the pieces and has said that she is adjusting to her new life after losing her sight.

Making her first appearance on Tuesday at the Raila Odinga Educational Centre, Rosemary said she will continue with her initiatives which include implementing projects in Kibera.

She donated 60 sewing machines to the institution, which will start enrolling women for the programme.

“Since my operation and losing my sight, I’m happy people are welcoming and I am now getting confident in how I interact with people and communicate,” Rosemary said.

Rosemary suffered a minor stroke, leading to her hospitalization in South Africa in February 2017.

Rosemary said an operation led to her losing her sight.

Rosemary was seen by many as Raila’s political heir after the death of Raila’s first son Fidel Odinga. Of late, the former Prime Minister has been seen to be grooming his other daughter Winnie Odinga.
