Mourinho explains his odd behaviour after Champions League win

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho explained his smashing of bottles after the goal by Marouane Fellaini noting that his actions were out of relief.

Mourinho could not contain himself after Fellaini netted in the 91st minute as he turned around to kick the water bottles on the side while tossing the others in the air.

The win ensured Manchester United’s progression to the knockout phases of the competition with a game to spare. United missed a flurry of chances in the game and looked set for another draw at home.

When asked to explain his celebration in a post-match press conference, Mourinho said, “Relief. Frustration before that and relief with the goal. I think we didn’t play for that, we didn’t play for 0-0. We didn’t play to be in trouble until the last minute, so frustration. I was not unhappy with the players. Not at all.”
