Fish is Good: Kisumu County Residents Ranked the Most Informed in the Country

Kisumu County has for long time been known as a hotbed of violence. It is also a known Opposition stronghold with the residents from the area publicly declaring their support for Raila Odinga and the Opposition Party.

Kisumu residents closely follow the political landscape in the Country. The handshake seem to have cooled down the political temperatures in the Country but that has not stopped them from monitoring the ongoing political debates and especially the thorny issue of the 2/3 gender bill.

A TIFA opinion poll has rated Kisumu residents as the most informed on matters related to the Gender Bill.

The county was rated at 84 per cent followed by Kiambu at 50 per cent; Nairobi and Mombasa county tied at 46 per cent.

On the extent of support for the Bill, Kisumu leads at 84 per cent, Mombasa 81 per cent, Kiambu 80 per cent while Nairobi has 79 per cent.

The survey was conducted between October 17, 2018, to November 5, 2018.

According to Tifa, Mike Sonko is the most improved Governor. Sonko posted an improvement from a D+ he scored in May this year to a C this month.

Those who took part in the poll cited better service delivery in the ratings for his performance.

His highest scores was recorded for street lighting with 68per cent, up from from 62per cent a few months ago.

Releasing the poll results on Wednesday, TIFA managing director Kweya Gerry announced that 77 percent of Nairobi residents were however against the governor operating from Machakos county.

Gerry further revealed that 67 percent of the participants said they were comfortable with Sonko operating without a deputy governor while 29percent were of the opposing view.

In the new score card, Kisumu County Governor Anyang’ posted a slight improvement from 56percent to 57percent, which saw him get a C+. This saw him become the top performing governor according to the polls.
