Barcelona star give up on chasing Iniesta’s dream

Having just completed 500 matches for the first team, Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets was asked about what the future holds and if he can topple Xavi Hernandez appearance record at the Camp Nou.

“To reach the appearance total of Xavi is impossible, I’m not thinking about that,” he said. “I’d like to achieve it, but it won’t be possible. “I want to finish things well and be useful for the team without being a problem. “I don’t know when [the end of his Barcelona career will be].

“From there, if I feel good, I’d like to try another kind of football, maybe in the USA, Japan or Qatar. “When it’s all over I want to enjoy my family because I’ve never really had four days off in a row. “Then I’d like to study to become a coach.”

Barcelona lost top spot in LaLiga Santander over the weekend and Sergio Busquets has discussed his team’s stuttering start to the season. Already they’ve dropped 14 points and the midfielder lamented their away form.

“We had one very bad week with the matches against Girona, Leganes and Athletic and we paid for it,” he said in an interview with Catalunya Radio. “We’ve not been as solid and effective away from home as we’d like to be. “There is a long way to go in the league and we have had some very good matches against great teams, while we’ve also done well in the Champions League.”

Ousmane Dembele has been in the headlines in the past few weeks for the wrong reasons and Busquets was asked for his thoughts on the young members of the squad.

“Life has changed,” he pointed out. “When I came into the team it was different, there wasn’t as much nonsense on social media. “There are now some things that are better and some that are worse. “You need to find a balance.

“Some players have won everything at youth level and are on the front pages. “There’s a need to remain mature and to know how to make it.”
