Ruto’s influence is Cheap threat, Say ODM officials

Since the return of Jubilee party into power, Deputy President William Ruto has been going round the country promorting the Jubillee big 4 agenda whereas his allies have been campaigning for him.

Over the last weekend DP Ruto made a  series of rallies across Kisii and Nyamira Counties, Orange Democratic Movement party swiftly responded through various gatherings across the region.

Ruto, who is eyeing over one million votes from the region, visited Nyamira and parts of Kisii this month where he called for unity.

  

 

While speaking to the Kemera residents he said, “I have no problem with Agwambo (Raila Odinga). He’s my mentor only that we disagreed. It’s normal in politics.”

Ruto’s visit was not enough, his rival party Orange Democratic Movement, (ODM) troops visited the same region led by  their  three senior officials on a mission to  onslaught against the DP.

According to the party’s deputy  leader Wycliffe Oparanya said that Ruto’s influence was as  ‘cheap threats’.

In addition he said, “We are only concerned in strengthening and uniting party members. Those running around should be blocked. They have nothing new for us. When you see them, rebuke them.”

Timothy Bosire the party’s treasurer also added saying that  Ruto’s trips as ‘sheer desperation’ further questioning his tract record.

“I have seen him loitering around in the pretext of launching projects. Funny enough, most of those projects were launched long time ago. Let him stop lying to our people. We are not stupid,” Bosire said at Nyansiongo Parish.

Similar remarks were echoed by party Vice Chairperson Janet Ong’era in her Kisii backyard where she warned Kisii leaders against following Ruto ‘blindly’.

The ambitious deputy Head of State has visited the vast region a record eleven times in six months, the highest after Western and Coast.

Ruto has been going round the country campaigning for his 2022 succession once President Kenyatta leaves office.
