Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala has been the subject of a transfer bid from Inter Milan, according to latest reports.

The France international is out-of-favour at the Etihad and he has yet to feature for Pep Guardiola’s side this season in any competition. Mangala, 27, spent the second half of last season on loan at Everton but he made just two appearances for the Toffees due to injury.

The central defender is desperately seeking a return to first-team action ahead of the January transfer window with his time in the Premier League seemingly up. And it would appear that Inter are ready to throw Mangala a lifeline as, according to Football Italia, the San Siro giants have tabled a ‘low-cost’ bid for the Frenchman.

While details of the exact amount have not been revealed, Inter believe they can snap the defender up on the cheap, with the Italians reportedly valuing Mangala at around £12million. These latest reports are likely to spark several other interested clubs into action, with Mangala attracting interest from around Europe ahead of the January window.

Mangala made his debut with the France senior team in a 1–0 loss to Uruguay on 6 June 2013.

He was included in France’s squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup but did not make an appearance during the tournament, in which Les Bleus reached the quarter-finals.

Mangala was also included in France’s squad that finished runners-up at UEFA Euro 2016 on home soil. He made one appearance in the quarter-finals on 3 July, replacing Laurent Koscielny for the final 18 minutes of a 5–2 win over Iceland at the Stade de France.
