Double Standards much? KOT protest arrest of Ambira High School students

All the eight Ambira High School students caught on video last week hurling insults at Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed and her Interior counterpart Dr Fred Matiang’i were today arraigned in court.

The eight appeared before Resident Magistrate Gladys Adhiambo at Ukwala Law Court in Siaya County but did not take plea as the the prosecution requested for seven more days to conclude investigations.

Justice Adhiambo granted the prosecution their request and ordered the minors to be detained at children cells in Ugunja police station for another week before the matter is heard on December 3, 2018.

Kenyans have taken to the streets and accused the government of it’s speedy response and arrest of the minors while other criminals in Kenya are yet to be charged.

KOT cited cases such as the death of Msando, the NYS scandal, the Maize scandal all of which have neither been resolved nor have people been arrested in connection to the said crimes.

 

 

Others have even accused President Kenyatta of hurling insults at his opponent Raila Odinga during the last general election saying that he ought to have been an example to the students.

The President a few days ago said that the government would not tolerate abuse and insults from indisciplined youth.
