Kenyans are not happy with the fact that the Nairobi County government led a condemned building be constructed up to seventh floor before acting.
Social media has been awash with complains that a seven floor building in Nairobi’s Kayole Estate had been allowed to be constructed despite there being clear signs that it was substandard and posed danger to to the neighborhood and would be occupants.
Governor Mike Sonko on Friday ordered for the demolition of the building, along Kayole’s Spine road. Carol Wanjiru, the owner of the condemned building was arrested before demolition started. Wanjiru faces the charge of constructing a building without approvals by the Nairobi county government.
My admin cannot sit back & watch innocent Kenyans trapped in collapsed buildings because of corruption. This morning a multi-agency team led by City Hall officials arrested owner of a condemned 7-storey building in Kayole for building without approvals/ignoring a demolition notice pic.twitter.com/LANyA8LAJF

Two people were earlier arraigned for constructing the defective house. They were charged with contravening construction rules. James Macharia and Peter Wairagwa were arraigned before the City Hall court on Tuesday.
But still Kenyans, believe the County government should have acted earlier.
Each area has County officers, start by sacking the whole lot that looked the other way when this contraption went up. Hiyo inf=gine yote ni kelele tupu.
