Kaa rada!!Detectives warns public of fraudsters operating in Nairobi

Nairobians have been caution to remain vigilant this festive season as a group fraudsters are now extorting unsuspecting members of the public in the parody of selling them tickets with redeemable prizes.

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the National Police Service have warned members of public to be wary of a team of racketeers who are on the prowl in the city’s CBD.

According to the police, the racketeers mostly operate along Moi Avenue preying on unsuspecting victims.

“not a single mugging incident was reported in town only for the muggings to resume after he was released and spotted in the streets. We call upon members of the public to immediately alert the Police should they spot him or get robbed on the streets. 3/3″DCI tweeted

Adding that “We caution all members of the public to remain vigilant and inform us in case they sight the suspects anywhere,” the police have warned.

This caution comes after the criminal ring’s suspected leader, John Ng’ethe Mwaura and a suspected accomplice were arrested on Wednesday.

After this warning do you think the ring will still operate in Nairobi?

“Following a tip off from a member of the public, our officers managed to arrest Mwaura’s accomplice one, Peter Gitau Kibe with whom they run the racket together. He will be arraigned in court tomorrow,” said the police.

The suspected was initially arrested early this year and charged for assaulting a police officer and maliciously damaging his property.

Mwaura, who also identifies himself as an overseer of the Christ Love International Ministry, and his accomplices have been linked to extorting unsuspecting members of the public in the pretext of selling them coupons with redeemable prizes.
