Why MP Junet Mohammed Suddenly became a Sumptuous Meal to the “Crocodiles”

Suna East MP and ODM Director of Elections Junet Mohammed has today made some shocking revelations on how his life is apparently in danger with people he said to be the killers of Sharon Otieno allegedly sending him death threats.

Questions have emerged as to why killers of Sharon Otieno would apparently want to kill him. Well, if you have been following the politics of Migori County so closely over the past few months, you will note that Junet and Governor Obado do not see eye to eye.

Junet is a die hard supporter and a fierce defender of Raila Odinga and the ODM Party. Okoth Obado on the other hand has fallen out with his party boss and has openly gone against his party principals and decisions.

It will be remembered that during the just concluded Migori Senatorial by-elections, Governor Okoth Obado was supporting Eddy Oketch, a candidate ODM viewed as an opponent. Obado did not throw his weight behind Ochillo Ayacko who was ODM’s candidate. Obado was opposed to ODM’s handpicking of candidates, a position that was viciously defended by the Party after handpicking Ochillo Ayacko.

Obado helped rally the masses behind Eddy Oketch only for a dark cloud, that of murder to later fall on him. The governor was arrested and charged in connection with the gruesome murder of university Student Sharon Otieno who was his girlfriend and pregnant with his baby at the time of death.

His arrest came as a reprieve for ODM who had been shaken by the turn of events in Migori. Eddy enjoyed a massive following despite contesting using a little known party. ODM even had to call Raila Odinga to help them get numbers from the region that has been viewed as Governor Obado’s bedrock.

During his trial back in Nairobi, the ODM Party distanced itself from him with Raila calling on Governor Obado to carry his own cross. Obado was later released on bail and the first thing he did was to kind of create some relationship between him and deputy President William Ruto. This too did not go well with ODM leaders led by Junet Mohammed and John Mbadi.

During his tours in Migori alongside Ruto, Obado reignited the “Crocodiles” talk with the governor seeking for Prayers from Kenyans saying that he was trapped in the mouth of the crocodile.

“If you pray for me, I will get out of the crocodile’s mouth,” he said.

The crocodile talks angered Junet and his team as they criticised the dalliance of Migori Governor Okoth Obado and Deputy President William Ruto.

The leaders accused Mr Obado of making allusions to a matter before court and warned that that could “cost him his freedom.”

Junet Mohamed said Mr Obado was trying to subvert the case before him through politics.

“By saying that he has been thrown into a crocodile’s mouth, who is he referring to? The investigators? The prosecution?” wondered Mr Mohamed.

“He doesn’t look like someone who has a case before a court of law,” said Mr Mohamed.

Obado is locked in a war with ODM leaders with Junet Mohammed being one of them. Could this be the reason the Suna East MP received death threats? Well, only time will tell.
