Shortly after being confirmed as the new head coach for South African Premier League side Black Leopards, Dylan Kerr is out to hurt his former employers Gor Mahia. The Englishman has already set his sights on K’Ogallo’s creative midfielder Francis Kahata.

Under his guidance, Kahata made impressive leaps to cement his place as Gor Mahia’s chief creator. He seemed a more confident player and the results were there for all to see.He was one of the few players who were deemed certain starters in Kerr’s lineup. And now, Kerr is out to make him his first ever signing for his new club.

Rumor has it that the record Kenyan Champion’s management will not stand in the way of this re union, should the right offer come along. Ronald Ngala, the club’s assistant Secretary General was today quoted alluding of the same.

“That’s very normal with our former coaches (trying to sign our players). It’s just like what happened when Ze Maria left and recommended to Tirana KF to sign Musa Mohammed and Muguna.Kahata has a contract with Gor Mahia until June next year and as long as the right procedure is followed to acquire the play, we are ready to listen to the offers,” Ronald Ngala said.

Though the club would lose such a talented and hardworking player, its hard to argue with the narrative. For starters, Gor only recently resigned yet another highly rated attacking midfielder in Kenneth Muguna. He operates in the same style as Kahata in that both seek to spray the ball forward. With both players on the pitch, it is hard to see how the new manager(whoever it will be) balances the team’s defensive side, kind of what Unai Emery is going through with English Premier League outfit Arsenal.

Other than the playing side of things, Gor Mahia are a club in need of some serious cash injection. Last season’s end of campaign debacle that had players down their tools due to unpaid salaries and allowances is an ugly feature that should not be present in a Club of Gor Mahia’s stature.

Kahata’s sale would surely aid in overcoming such incidents an unnecessary friction between the management and players.

Though a special talent the wise move for Gor Mahia would be to cash in on the midfielder and re invest the money in the team. What do you think, Should Gor Mahia sell Francis Kahata?
