Hostages Kenyan Edition: Suspect holding family hostage gunned down

Recently, the crimes in Kenya have been quite disturbing and one can only wonder how criminals are able to sit down, plan and execute such crimes. Have you watched the television series ‘Hostages’? If you have maybe you thought that these things only happen in movies or if they happened in real life, it could only be in Western countries. Well, you must have thought wrong.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) today morning shot and killed one suspected robber during a hostage rescue operation in Thika West, Kiambu County. The man is said to have been in a group of four other suspected robbers who are believed to have been holding a family hostage.

According to a tweet posted by the DCI, the suspects fired at the detectives who had responded to the distress call, prompting them to fire back.

“#Robbery|1 man who was in a group of about 4 robbers holding a family hostage in Thika West, was early today fatally injured by Detectives. The robbers started firing at the officers who had responded to the distress call- prompting them to fire back. 3 escaped & are being pursued,” read a tweet from the official DCI Twitter account.

A pistol, knife and a hammer were also recovered from the scene during the rescue operation.
