ICAO Air Services Negotiation Event coming to Nairobi!

Kenya is slowly becoming for business in East Africa and it’s nothing short of magical to witness it all unfold before our eyes. This year, the eleventh ICAO Air Services Negotiation Event (ICAN2018) is coming to Kenya and will be held at Nairobi from the 10th to 14th December 2018 at the Kenyatta International Convention Center.

The event which took place in Sri Lanka from December 4 to 8 December last year was attended by over 500 delegates. This year it will be hosted by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) will see about 800 delegates from all over the world attending.

“ICAO Air Services Negotiations event will be taking place at Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), from December 10 to December 15,” said Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) Director General Gilbert Kibe.

“We will be working with various countries and industry groups to reach consensus on international civil aviation Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) and policies in support of a safe, efficient, secure, economically sustainable and environmentally responsible civil aviation sector,” said Mr. Kibe.

The global event, which is in its 11th consecutive year is looking to provide meeting facilities for states to conduct multiple bilateral, regional or multilateral air services negotiations in a single location, thus sparing member states the trouble of making individual trips to each of the countries.

Other than the bilateral negotiations that will be taking place, there will also be forums for participants to learn about current trends, discuss share experiences.

Since its inception, about 142 states have participated in and benefited from ICAN at least once with over 2,700 agreements and arrangements having been signed between states and delegates.

ICAN2018  also offers a forum for the participants to learn about current trends, discuss and exchange experiences, as well as providing excellent networking opportunities. It will also offer industry stakeholders opportunities for Business to Business (B2B) meetings and networking with both other business stakeholders or community members, but also aviation regulators and air service negotiators participating in the event. ​
ICAN has been highly commended by participating Delegations as an efficient platform for conducting air service negotiations.
