England and Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has revealed his ambitions once he hangs up his iconic boots.
Rooney made his final national appearance in a friendly against the USA where he came off the bench to replace former club teammate Jesse Lingard. Rooney, who spent 13 years at Man United has revealed that coaching tops his list of wishes once he retires from active football. His ex-teammate Ryan Giggs now coaches Wales national team.
“Obviously, I need to complete my badges, which I am doing over in the States. Hopefully, by the time I come back to England, I will have them completed and be in a position to accept or reject any offers I get.
“There is always time. You have got time to do TV if that is the way you want to go. I think everyone is different. I would prefer to give coaching or management a go. If it doesn’t work out then I am sure there would be opportunities to do TV and whatever feels right for you,” he told MUTV.
Rooney netted 53 goals for England and stand stop of the scorer’s chart. He is the second most capped player standing second to Peter Shilton. In his over a decade stay at Old Trafford, Rooney won five Premier League titles, FA Cup and Champions League gong.
Before leaving United last year, he had scored 253 goals across 559 appearances surpassing Sir Robert Charlton’s goal tally and established himself as the club’s top scorer.
