President Kenyatta gives NYS a ‘new face’

More funds and energy on NYS??

President Uhuru Kenyatta says he has confidence in the NYS’ ability to support the realization of the Big 4 Agenda. The President stated that the National Youth Service has the most critical factor in production, as it has the capacity to train market-ready graduates who have the required skills.

The govt is implementing a raft of measures to reposition the National Youth Service to deliver on its mandate with a high sense of integrity as it empowers more youth. The measures include the draft NYS Bill 2018, which provides for stronger structures for oversight in the NYS.

Thousands of these men and women today gathered during the  pass out ceremony which was held in Gilgil. The ceremony was presided by President Kenyatta.

Men who are seemingly ready to take part in change took pride in their efforts as they carried  posters in support of Kenya’s big four agenda. From my personal opinion, out of these men and women we have Kenya’s future and that too, counts. Perhaps over the years we might see a changed institution which is ready to take the nation forward and this might be the beginning.

During the ceremony, President  Uhuru Kenyatta reiterated that all those who have embezzled NYS funds will fully face the law. The President has firmly stated that individuals will not be allowed to pocket resources meant for empowering the country’s young people. President Kenyatta today said the government is determined to recover all the money looted from the National Youth Service and the culprits made to pay the price.

Despite the stern warning Kenyatta also praised the National Youth Service saying that it is an institution that has energetic, intelligent, young men and women, ready to work. To meet the demands of the Big 4 Agenda, skilled men and women in the technical competencies are absolutely vital.
